The award recognizes Chamber members or individuals who have demonstrated exceptional educational initiatives and dedication to education and who have contributed to partnerships between business and education. Education Committee to Present 12th Annual Business Education Initiative Award to Thomas Townes, Senior Principal, Focus Architecture, LLC The Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Education Committee is pleased to announce that it will present its Annual Business Education Initiative Award, sponsored by DeVry University to Thomas Townes, Senior Principal, Focus Architecture, LLC at the Chamber’s May 1 Monthly Membership Luncheon Meeting. The award recognizes Chamber members or individuals who have demonstrated exceptional educational initiatives and dedication to education and who have contributed to partnerships between business and education. Tom is a dedicated member of the Foundation’s Education Committee and has been instrumental in the development and implementation of the Annual Educator’s Institute. Tom has been an active member of the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a familiar face at Chamber events. In addition, we welcome Michael Cooper, Dean, Rutgers Business School as our guest speaker, who will speak about “Love and Money – Valuable Lessons for Life”, a unique program at Rutgers University that guides students by examining the key ingredients for a fulfilling life, such as choosing a rewarding career, personal finance, successful negotiation and communication, achieving work-life balance, setting life-goals, cultivating healthy relationships and preparing for and managing major life changes. Thomas S. Townes has 30 years of experience in the design and built industry as an architect and, for the past 20 years, has had a major role in marketing. He began his career as a designer, project architect, and project manager and has actively developed marketing strategies for several firms, including a 350-person educational architectural engineering firm where he served as a Senior Principal and Board Director. In 2006, Mr. Townes co-founded Focus Architecture, LLC and currently serves as its President and Senior Principal. Founded on the premise that “little things mean everything,” Focus Architecture has earned acclaim for a variety of education, commercial, retail, and residential projects. Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Townes proudly served as the Chapter President for the Philadelphia Board of the Society of Marketing Professional Services where he is currently involved with SMPS’s National Education Committee. He also belongs to the Princeton Corridor Rotary Club, sits on the Leadership Team of the Princeton Community Church in Pennington, NJ, and for the past eight years, has served on the Education Committee of the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce. The May 1 Monthly Membership Luncheon Meeting will take place at the Marriott Princeton Hotel and Conference Center at Forrestal beginning at 11:30 a.m. with registration and a networking reception followed by a buffet luncheon and the program, adjourning at 1:30 p.m. Cost to attend is $35 for Chamber members and $45 for non-members.
